About the Keyword Density Checker

Keyword density is the number of times a word appears divided by the total number of words, shown as a percentage. It is a quick way to check that a page is clearly about its topic without repeating the same term unnaturally.

This checker lists your most frequent words with their count and density. Stop words are skipped by default so meaningful terms rise to the top, but the density is still calculated against the full word count. Search engines do not reward a particular percentage, so use the report to write naturally rather than to hit a target number. Our keyword density guide explains more.

How to use it

  1. Paste the text of your article or page.
  2. Choose whether to ignore stop words and how many keywords to list.
  3. Click Check Keyword Density.
  4. Review the top terms and adjust your wording if any term is overused.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good keyword density?

There is no ideal number. Most writers find that a main term naturally appears at around 1–2% of the words. Much higher values usually read as repetitive.

Does it analyse phrases?

It analyses single words. To check how often a phrase appears, use your browser’s find feature or Find and Replace.

Can I check a live web page?

Copy the page text into the tool. If you have the HTML, run it through Remove HTML Tags first.

Is the text I enter kept private?

Yes. The Keyword Density Checker runs entirely in your web browser, so your text is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. Like most free websites, TextForge shows ads from Google, which may use cookies. See our Privacy Policy for details.
