About the Remove Duplicate Lines
Merged mailing lists, keyword research exports and log files often contain the same line many times. This tool scans your text from top to bottom and keeps the first time each line appears, removing every later copy. Unlike a sort-and-dedupe approach, the order of your list is preserved.
Two options control what counts as a duplicate. With Ignore upper/lowercase differences ticked, “Apple” and “apple” are treated as the same line. With Ignore extra spaces ticked, lines that only differ by leading, trailing or repeated spaces are matched too. The version of the line that is kept is always the first one, exactly as you typed it.
How to use it
- Paste your list, with one item per line.
- Choose whether letter case and extra spaces should be ignored when comparing lines.
- Click Remove Duplicates.
- Copy the de-duplicated list or download it.

Frequently asked questions
Does the tool sort my list?
No. The original order is kept. If you also want the result in alphabetical order, run it through Sort Lines A–Z afterwards.
Are blank lines treated as duplicates?
Yes. Only the first blank line is kept. To remove all blank lines, use Remove Empty Lines.
How many lines can it handle?
It comfortably handles hundreds of thousands of lines. The only limit is your device’s memory, because everything runs in your browser.
Is the text I enter kept private?
