About the Sort Lines A–Z
Sorting a list by hand is tedious and easy to get wrong. Paste your list, one item per line, and this tool puts it into alphabetical order instantly.
The sort is “natural”, so numbers inside lines are compared by value: “Item 2” comes before “Item 10”, which is what people expect. Upper and lower case are treated the same, and accented letters sort next to their plain versions. Empty lines are removed by default so they do not collect at the top.
How to use it
- Paste your list with one item per line.
- Choose whether to remove empty lines.
- Click Sort A–Z and copy the sorted list.

Frequently asked questions
What is natural sorting?
Natural sorting compares numbers by their value, so 2 comes before 10. Basic sorting compares digit by digit and would put 10 first.
Is the sort case-sensitive?
No. “apple” and “Apple” are treated as equal.
Can I remove duplicates while sorting?
Run your list through Remove Duplicate Lines first, then sort it.
