Random String Generator

Generate random strings with the length and characters you choose.

About the Random String Generator

Random strings are useful as test data, coupon codes, temporary identifiers and sample passwords. This generator creates as many strings as you need, up to 100 at a time, with the length and character types you choose.

Characters are picked using your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), with no bias towards any character. The strings are created on your device and never sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Set the length of each string and how many you want.
  2. Tick the character types to include.
  3. Click Generate. Click again for a new set.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to use these as passwords?

The strings are generated with secure randomness and never leave your device, so they are suitable. A password manager is still the best place to create and store passwords.

How long should a random password be?

At least 16 characters with a mix of character types is a good rule for important accounts.

Will I get the same result twice?

Practically never. Each click creates new, independent strings.

Is the text I enter kept private?

Yes. The Random String Generator runs entirely in your web browser, so your text is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. Like most free websites, TextForge shows ads from Google, which may use cookies. See our Privacy Policy for details.
